UCR Registration (Unified Carrier Registration)

Stay Legal. Stay on the Road.

The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) program is an annual requirement for motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies that operate in interstate commerce. Registration is mandatory and enforced by state agencies and roadside inspectors.

Who Must Register?

  • Motor Carriers operating in interstate or international commerce

  • Private Carriers transporting their own goods in interstate commerce

  • Brokers, Freight Forwarders, and Leasing Companies (no vehicles required)

If you have a USDOT number and operate interstate, you likely need UCR.

UCR Fees (2025)

Fees are based on the number of commercial motor vehicles in your fleet:

  • 0–2 Vehicles → $47

  • 3–5 Vehicles → $141

  • 6–20 Vehicles → $281

  • 21–100 Vehicles → $977

  • 101–1,000 Vehicles → $4,685

  • 1,001+ Vehicles → $45,430

Failure to register can result in fines of hundreds of dollars per vehicle.
